Triflex has a proven track record of delivering high-quality liquid roofing systems for educational institutions across the UK. Their advanced systems ensure durability, safety, and minimal disruption during installation. Here are some notable case studies highlighting their expertise in school roofing projects.
John. F Kennedy School
In August 2018, during the summer holidays, the John F. Kennedy School in Beckton, East London, 1,200m² roof was refurbished. The existing traditional felt waterproofing system had developed blisters and delaminated at lap joints, leading to water ingress. Traditional felt systems require hot work, posing fire risks. Triflex Authorised Contractors, Weatherproofing Advisors Ltd., recommended a cold liquid applied system, eliminating hot work risks. The school needed a cost-effective solution completed within two weeks. The Triflex system met these requirements. Read more about this project.
Walter Halls Primary School
The school experienced extensive leaks, necessitating a single-ply warm roof replacement to create a watertight building and a rooftop play area. The previous wooden decking had been removed for patch repairs, closing off the play area. There were also waterproofing failures at the retaining wall details. Access to the building location was difficult, requiring all materials to be transported across a playing field by forklift. Triflex provided a solution to these complex issues. Rainham School For Girls
In early 2017, the 1,576m² flat roof of Rainham School for Girls in Gillingham, Kent, showed signs of failure. The existing felt and asphalt system was allowing water ingress, risking structural damage and posing a health and safety hazard. The Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and their project manager, Ridge & Partners LLP, chose Triflex. Triflex's cold liquid applied waterproofing systems, already used in other trust schools, minimised installation risks. Read more about this project.
Sledmere Primary School
Following a 2013 Triflex ProTect waterproofing solution for mobile classrooms, Sledmere Primary School in Dudley, West Midlands, needed a solution for their Nursery building. The building had water damage due to de-bonded waterproofing, compromised insulation and deck, and a thin timber deck needing upgrade to 20mm to meet Building Regulations. Triflex’s cold applied systems allowed for term-time installation with no hot works required. Read more about this project.
St. Simon Stock School
Triflex, Ashley Consultants UK Limited, and Concept Roofing & Cladding Services refurbished four roofs at St. Simon Stock Catholic School in Maidstone, Kent. The failing mineral felt and asphalt waterproofing on the academy status, mixed secondary school and sixth form, resulted in water ingress. The existing mineral felt had degraded from ponding water, with the asphalt cracked and ruckled in parts. The roofs' thermal performance also needed upgrading to meet Part L2B of Building Regulations. Each roof required a tailored solution. Triflex, Ashley Consultants UK, and Concept Roofing & Cladding conducted surveys, testing, U-value, and condensation risk analysis calculations to ensure appropriate solutions, especially for the kitchen roof, which was a high condensation area.
